O’Brien Forbes

OB Forbes is a local bike racing legend. No one has won more races for so long as OB. So when he officially retired last year, the competitive bike racing community held their collective breath...What’s next for OB? For the last 20 years O’Brien has coached all types of riders at every conceivable ability level—from serious racers to weekend warriors, so it is natural that he wants to give back by coaching juniors. Our team is extremely fortunate that OB has selected our juniors to coach. 

Sam Murdock, 16

Category 4

Racing Experience 2 years

Preferred course: Circuits, Crits and uphill Sprints

 

Sam has had a strong spring and early summer. With a top 10 finish in the Spring Series Cat 4 GC, multiple top three finishes in Columbus and Cincinnati road races and crits, Sam won Ault Park as the youngest in 23 years and won Grandview in a very strong field. Sam is impressing people.

 

Nickname: “Plow”

Cory St. Clair, 16

Category 4

Racing Experience 2 years

Preferred course: Long and hilly road course

 

This is Cory’s second year racing. Under the direction of Coach OB, Cory is showing great potential. With a 1st and 5th place finish in Summer Solstice 2007, 2nd place in the Spring Series Cat 4 GC, and several other top three results, Cory is dominating local Junior and Cat 4 races. Stay tuned, Cory will be seen on many podiums at future races.

 

Nickname: “Painkiller”

Brandon Lach, 16

Category: 4

Racing Experience 2 years

Preferred course: Hilly road and Criterium courses

 

Brandon has been on a bike for years and last year dabbled with bike racing. This year with Coach OB, Brandon is training hard, supporting his teammates and pulling his weight, with strong results in hilly crits and  road courses. Brandon Loves the bike and as a freshman, he as two more years to kick

 

Nickname: “Billy Goat”

 

 

Grant Gorham, 18

Category: 4

Racing experience: 3rd year

Preferred course: Flat road course, Sprint finishes

 

Grant is the elder statesmen of the team. He has the most experience and knows the race courses and has the most history with Coach OB.  Grant has compiled an impressive list of wins in Juniors and Cat 4 road races. Grant is a team player and provides lots of team support in crits and circuits races. We look forward to celebrating Grants “Graduation” to an adult team next year and expect to watching him succeed in the Cat 3 and college competitions.
