About Us |
|
Great Beginning In 2007, Ghisallo Junior Cycling team members raced in 70+ Cat 4 and Junior races, winning 20 and placing in over 30 of these races. Our team is the dominate Juniors team in all Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, if not the central US. Our team trains year round, putting in over 10,000 base miles and hundreds of hours of training. We are focused and committed to an outstanding future. Juniors Only Our team is currently the only exclusively Juniors competitive cycling team in the tri-state. We will continue to be a Junior only team with an ultimate roster of 6—8 racers between the ages of 13 – 18. Once team members reach the racing age of 19 they move to up to adult teams. We anticipate maintaining a Junior’s team in the Cincinnati area as long as we can find focused and athletic young men willing to make the commitment. 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Our team is committed to the development of competitive junior cyclist. Our goal is to attract, develop, train and put into competition the best junior riders in the tri-state, region and nation, and build the foundation for local cycling talent to succeed at the collegiate, AAU and Olympic levels. 100% of all sponsorship dollars go directly toward equipment, gear, training and race event expenses. We are amateur athletes, no one is paid, including our professional coach, who volunteers his time. We do it for the love and future of the sport. Leadership Success in cycling requires a focused, dedicated commitment to the bike – miles in the training saddle means you fdo well on race day. Ironically, competitive cycling is a team sport which requires leadership, strategy, a coordinated training program and a playbook. As with any successful team, it starts with a great coach. We are extremely fortunate to have one of the best local coaches; O’Brien Forbes. In 22 years of racing, O’Brien (OB to his friends) has competed in over 600 races with over 80 wins, more wins that anyone in the tri-state area. Highlights include: 9 times Ohio / West Virginia State Champion – 1994 through 2004 Winner of stage at Super Week - 2004 Winner of Tour of Brookside - 1992 6 times Ault Park Champion – 1989 through 2006 5 times Spring Series Champion – 1987 through 2006 O’Brien has an unquenchable passion for this sport and for giving back to the sport he loves. He coached for the Queen City Wheels Team from 1990 – 1993, and in 1994 OB formed, coached and managed a team of the best racers from the Sothern Ohio which dominated the local scene for three years, winning over 60% of the races in which they competed.
